The Knowing-Doing Gap

You don't need more information. You need to do what you already know.

Most financial professionals have heard every strategy. The gap between knowing and doing isn't about knowledge. It's about belief, self-image and emotion.

What it looks like

Signs of the gap.

  • The calls you know to make

    …and somehow don't.

  • Great months, then flat months

    Performance that depends on mood.

  • Plans that restart every January

The same goals, the same stall.

  • Coaching others, not yourself

Leaders who can see it in their team but not in themselves.

Why it happens

Action follows identity.

Under the BTFAR framework, action is the fourth link, not the first. If a belief or self-image says "this isn't who I am", willpower loses eventually. Close the gap by changing what drives the action.

How coaching closes it

One belief at a time.

In private coaching we identify the belief behind the gap, replace it, and build the daily structure that makes the new standard automatic. The process is different at each of the three levels: BUILD, PERFORM and CHAMPION.
